What is UNDO?

UNDO is born from something very simple: what would normally be thrown away. Food scraps and by-products from the food industry are transformed, through a controlled biotechnological process, into PHA, a biopolymer with the feel and manufacturing performance of "plastic"… but with a much cleaner end of life.

The result: a functional cup, manufacturable with conventional industrial processes, biodegradable and compostable, without microplastics and without toxins.

UNDO compostable cup

From waste to compostable cup

UNDO is born from a multi-stage biotechnological process that transforms organic waste into a resistant and functional material.

01

Organic waste

Food scraps and food industry by-products enter a controlled system. Instead of ending up in a landfill, this waste becomes the raw material for our bioplastic. It is circular economy in its purest form.

02

Initial fermentation

Specialised bacteria transform organic matter into volatile fatty acids (VFAs). These smaller, more manageable molecules are the perfect food for the next phase of the process. It is nature working for us.

03

PHA production

A second group of bacteria converts these compounds into PHA, storing it in their cells. By manipulating the culture conditions (alternating feeding and "stress"), the bacteria accumulate ever more polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) inside themselves.

04

Extraction and purification

The PHA is separated to obtain a polymer with suitable mechanical properties. The result is a fairly pure polymer with excellent mechanical properties: resistant and useful as a manufacturing material.

05

Formulation and manufacturing

The material is transformed into pellets ready for industrial processes such as injection or thermoforming. These pellets are suitable for injection, thermoforming and other conventional processes. 100% biodegradable, without microplastics or toxic additives.

Advantages over conventional plastic

100% Compostable

Certified as compostable. It converts to compost in industrial facilities, closing the cycle sustainably.

100% Biodegradable

If by any chance a cup ends up in the environment, it would biodegrade without leaving persistent residues.

No microplastics

Does not release plastic fragments that contaminate soil or water.

No toxic additives

Does not incorporate substances harmful to the environment.

A solution aligned with reducing plastic pollution and the principles of circular economy.

Frequently asked questions

PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) is a biopolymer produced by bacteria from organic waste. It is a completely biodegradable material that serves as an alternative to conventional plastic.

A biodegradable material decomposes naturally; a compostable material does so under specific composting conditions, ensuring it becomes compost without leaving harmful residues.

No, the material is based on bioplastic derived from organic waste. It does not contain polyethylene, polypropylene or any other plastic of petrochemical origin.
